Proudly Promdi is a local liquor brand that celebrates Filipino-made spirits and the communities behind them. Founded by Ken and Maina Alonso, the brand reclaims the word promdi (“from the province”) as a point of pride. We developed an identity that elevates local craftsmanship, helping bring these regional wines and spirits to a wider audience, both at home and beyond.

Proudly Promdi began as a small booth at fairs and special events, offering tapuey, bignay, and a lineup of signature cocktails.

While imported beverages like soju and sake were gaining global traction, few people recognized local spirits like tuba and bugnay. Seeing the gap, Proudly Promdi set out to champion Filipino wines with the belief that they deserve equal recognition, both at home and abroad.

We asked ourselves: What does it mean to carry our traditions forward?

Elevating Local Spirits with Local Craft

To celebrate the roots of Philippine-made wines, we grounded the visual identity in local weaving techniques, drawing a parallel to the care and craft behind each bottle. The result is a system that feels handmade and deeply tied to place.

Solihiya was already part of Proudly Promdi’s booth design. We used its octagonal pattern as the foundation for the wordmark. Wide, open counters paired with contrasting strokes to evoke ginhawa and elegance.

Solihiya’s form echoes through the brand’s type and graphic elements.

The combination of Lydian and Chakra Petch call back to the contrast and angles of the wordmark respectively. Illustrations and decorative flourishes also take from the octagonal edges.

Pride in Province and Community

We designed the packaging to take Promdi to the world. We refined the form while keeping it rooted in spirit, honoring the quality and care behind each bottle. The design gave the brand a platform to grow—opening space for sharing, storytelling, and bringing more Filipinos into the world of local spirits.

We designed the flagship Bugnay and Tapuey bottles to carry the pride of their origins, a tribute to the communities and traditions behind them.

Instead of the polished minimalism typical of most wine bottles, we leaned into custom typography and tactile details—inviting touch and encouraging the same discernment found in tastings and flights.

Grounded in local craft and character, the new identity helps Proudly Promdi connect with curious, discerning drinkers in fresh and meaningful ways.

Proudly Promdi celebrates the everyday through both flavor and form. Whether it is crafting cocktails with local ingredients like calamansi and baby corn, or working with illustrators like Addi Panadero to bring out a distinctly Filipino character. Together, these elements invite people to rediscover what’s already theirs. From a traveling bar to the Promdi “Hohol” experience, the brand continues to create spaces where local spirits, stories, and communities come together.
