Balay Dako is a Filipino restaurant in Tagaytay, envisioned by Chef Tony Boy Escalante as the Sunday lunch destination for families. Housed in a grand structure overlooking Taal Lake, it serves generous portions of classic Filipino and Negrense dishes made for sharing. We drew inspiration from the architecture of the house itself, and created a brand that reflects the spirit of gathering and tradition.
Established in 2015, Balay Dako has become one of Tagaytay’s most beloved dining institutions.
Details from the wrought iron gates to the chairs and ornamental breeze blocks add rhythm and refinement, echoing the house’s quiet grandeur throughout the space.
We translated the wrought iron patterns into graphic borders, adding structure and ornament to menus, packaging, and printed materials.
We echoed the structure and ornament of the house in the custom logotype, drawing out its weight, rhythm, and quiet formality.
Brand Application
We developed a set of patterns drawn from architectural details, designed to scale across materials. Applied extensively to take-home packaging, which is a key part of the Balay Dako experience. They bring consistency, character, and a sense of occasion to every pasalubong and meal brought home.
A Balay Dako pasalubong is meant to be as impactful as the dining experience.
We developed a set of visual elements that extend the architecture into the brand. Patterns reference breeze blocks and floor tiles; borders take cues from wrought iron details. Used across packaging, they allow each pasalubong to carry a piece of Balay Dako home.
